From the Sydney Opera House to the Great Barrier Reef, Australia is a dream destination for many Indian families. Indian travellers usually apply for the Visitor Visa (Subclass 600) to visit for tourism or to meet family.
Streams of the Visitor Visa
- Tourist stream – for holidays, sightseeing and visiting friends or family.
- Sponsored Family stream – when an eligible family member in Australia sponsors your visit.
- Business Visitor stream – for short business trips, meetings and conferences.
How to apply
- Create an ImmiAccount on the Department of Home Affairs website.
- Fill the online application and upload scanned documents.
- Pay the visa fee online.
- Give biometrics or attend a health check if requested.
- Wait for the decision, which is sent by email.
Documents you will need
Keep a scanned copy of your passport, recent photograph, bank statements, ITR, employment proof, travel itinerary and, if applicable, an invitation letter from your relatives in Australia.
Processing times vary through the year, so apply well before your planned travel date and avoid booking non-refundable tickets until your visa is granted.
